Holiday Mixer Fuels Library Programs

COLUSA, CA (MPG) — Friends of the Colusa County Free Library welcomed more than 60 supporters to its annual Merry Mocktail Mixer on Monday, Dec. 1, at the Colusa Branch Library in Colusa.

Committee member Christine Doble said guests enjoyed a Sparkling Citrus Pomegranate Mocktail served by Erin Steidlmayer, along with hot apple cider. Members also brought a spread of sweet and savory treats that filled the tables.

The evening raised a little more than $1,300 through new and renewed memberships, book sales, donations and sales of totes, shirts and gift baskets. Proceeds support programs at county branch libraries.

The mixer also marked the start of the Friends’ holiday book sale, which runs at the Colusa Branch through Dec. 19. The branch opens Monday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday from noon to 8 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Friends used the event to launch a new fundraising campaign for Hoopla, the digital service that lets Colusa County residents borrow, stream and download ebooks, audiobooks, comics, music, movies and TV with a valid library card.

Each title checked out on Hoopla carries a cost, and Friends of the Colusa County Library provides the funding. The group set a goal of $10,000 to keep Hoopla available for about one year. Supporters can donate through the Friends’ Facebook page or by mailing a check to P.O. Box 1105 in Colusa, with full details listed online.
