Boys Soccer Roundup

Boys:

Williams 2 – Chico 2 (12/2)

Williams 8 – Paradise 0 (12/4)

After surrendering two late goals to Chico at home and seeing the match end in a draw, the defending Northern Section Division III champions, bounced back to crush Paradise.

The Yellowjackets’ Julian Garcia scored both goals in a match against Chico on Dec. 2 that ended in a 2-2 draw.
The ‘Jackets’ Octavio Parra, shown during the match against Chico, scored on a penalty kick as Williams went on to a shutout win over Paradise on Dec. 4.

Julian Garcia scored in the 10th and 47th minutes to put the ‘Jackets up 2-0, but an injury to midfielder Leo Esparza late in the second half changed the complexion of the match and allowed the Panthers, who dominated time of possession, to come back and tie.

However, there was no such drama two days later at McCarl Field when Gio Velazquez scored a brace and assisted on two others to lead Williams to the victory over the Bobcats.

Williams’ Gio Velazquez finished with a brace of goals and two assists in the ‘Jackets’ 8-0 win over Paradise on
Dec. 4.

Garcia scored once as did Octavio Parra, Daniel Preciado, Brian Jimenez, Rigo Ramirez and Emiliano Esparza, while Phillip Santillan recorded two assists and Jose Cervantes pitched in with one.

Williams (1-0-1) hosted Live Oak on Dec. 9 and Hamilton on Dec. 11.

Colusa 0 – Live Oak 3 (12/5)

Foothill Tournament:

Colusa 1 – Enterprise 1 (12/5)

Colusa 0 – Corning 2 (12/6)

Colusa 1 – Orland 1 (12/6)

Having yielded three goals in its shutout loss to Live Oak to start last week, the RedHawks tightened up their defense and made a strong showing against larger schools at the Foothill Tournament in Palo Cedro.

Sophomore Lucio Preciado accounted for Colusa’s goals against Enterprise and Orland.

This week, the RedHawks (0-1-2) entertained Woodland Christian on Monday then traveled to Corning on Tuesday.

Pierce 3 – Esparto 0 (12/4)

Although no statistics were available, the Bears picked up a win over visiting Esparto in their season opener and will return to action on Dec. 12 in Live Oak’s Battle of the Buttes Tournament.
