I’m by no means one of the rich. But, if I were, I’d be outraged to think I should pay increased taxes because of my wealth. Really? Why should people who worked hard to succeed pay for people not working, or not trying to be successful? There’s something wrong with that notion.
I guess that’s called socialism. No need to work if the government can provide everything you want or need. Who will pay for it? Tax the rich. That kind of blows the theory about the government will pay for it.
Hell in a hand basket comes to mind.
Growing up we didn’t have everything we wanted, but we did have everything we needed. How could that be? Because my dad worked long hard days. He was a land leveler. Keep in mind it was in the days before enclosed, air-conditioned tractor cabs. Long hot days found my dad covered in dirt by the end of the day. Only the area around his eyes was clean. He wore goggles to see while working in spinning dirt. Remember, no enclosed cab.
So, when I hear people spewing rhetoric
of entitlement it more than annoys me.
The women in my family planted a huge garden each year. From that garden they harvested and canned vegetables and fruit. They stocked up for winter. Land levelers don’t have work in winter. So, they saved up and stored up in summer. It never occurred to them that maybe someone else would pay their bills. A state-owned grocery store would seem imaginary at best.
I’m proud of my heritage. We were taught by example. If we wanted something, we worked for it. It is as it should be if you want to take pride in your accomplishments.
My parents taught me well. Life is good today.
