JAMES (JIM) W. MURPHY JR • 09/11/1930 – 07/11/2025

James (Jim) W. Murphy Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in Florence, Oregon on 7/11/2025 at the age of 94. Born on September 11, 1930 in Arbuckle California, he spent his early years farming. He retired and moved to Florence, Oregon in 1994, where he enjoyed his retirement by socializing with his neighbors, gardening, woodworking and driving to the ocean to watch the sunset with his wife (along with a burger and fries).

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Nancy, his children Dorothy, Jim, Mike, Kim, Aaron, Mary, and Bill, and his stepchildren, Jill and Ginger. He was preceded in death by his stepchildren, Susie and Bobby. His extensive family includes his children, 27 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Jim graduated from Arbuckle High School where he played football. He also joined, and went on maneuvers and training, with the California National Guard. He enjoyed being involved with his children as he was a 4-H leader and coached his sons in little league. Even though Jim could not swim, he loved taking the family skiing on Ladoga Lake. His passion for working in his garage, from woodworking to welding, is a legacy that now lives on through the generations of family that Jim adored. He also shared his ability to hunt, fix anything around the house, and cook dinner for the family. He was stubborn, wise, proud, but most importantly he was dedicated and loving.
From his children; To our amazing Dad, our hero, we want to simply say thank you. Thank you for always being there for us every step of the way. Thank you for your guidance, your support, and your unwavering love. We can never put into words how much you mean to us but want you to know your love will forever be in our hearts.
