Driving down the interstate yesterday I saw something that made me proud.
Upon a hill near a familiar farm, I saw a shiny green tractor with a giant American Flag attached and flying in the wind. What better spot to show pride in our flag.
It’s out there for all to see. It waves strong and proud on America’s farmland.
The farm owner is an Iraq War veteran. He knows the struggle that he and other soldiers faced for the right to fly our flag. So, fly it he does.
It makes me proud to call this young farmer one of my own.
Many of my family members were soldiers, sailors and airmen during wartimes. My husband is a Vietnam Veteran.
They all deserve respect. The flag they fought for, and some died for deserves respect.
If you own one, proudly fly it for all to see.
All eyes are on, and all hearts are with Texas this week as I write. I cannot imagine the sorrow and pain these families are facing. To lose a child or a grandchild is the most absolute heart wrenching event we can face.
Many years ago, our 16-year-old nephew drowned in an area dam. You never forget the loss. The pain of waiting on shore for divers to find him remains fresh in our memory. The doubled pain and cries of his parents when his body was found is not forgotten.
We appreciated the efforts and the never-give-up attitude of the divers.
Once the crowd left and the family went home that day, they tried one more time to find him. They joined together to make a final sweep of the water. They successfully located his body with that effort.
With that discovery began a whole new onslaught of pain.
So, pray long and hard for the Texas families facing first uncertainty and then relief or heart break. Our children, big or small are our most precious gifts.
Let’s pray life will be good today.
