Rough Going for Colusa Softball at Lassen Tourney

Colusa’s Elli Santana, the RedHawks top hitter, had two hits against Lassen and picked up two more against Chico during games at the Lassen Tournament in Susanville.

SUSANVILLE, CA (MPG) – Making their annual trek to the Lassen Tournament on Apr. 25 and 26, the RedHawks faced some tough competition, falling to the host Grizzlies, Chico and Foothill (Palo Cedro) before picking up a win against Truckee.

Errors proved consequential in the first game, a 5-7 loss to Lassen, where Colusa saw its nine-game win streak come to an end.

Elli Santana was 2 for 3 while Caeden Agnew went 1 for 3 with three RBI.

In their second game against Chico, in which the RedHawks suffered a 1-8 setback, Santana recorded a pair of hits, but their only run came in the fifth on an error.

Facing Foothill, the Northern Section’s No. 3 ranked team on Saturday, Colusa was no-hit in the 0-8 shutout and again struggled defensively.

The RedHawks’ Ava Garcia had a double and an RBI in a win over Truckee at the Lassen Tournament on Apr. 26.

Yet, the RedHawks were able to get back on track with an 8-0 win over Truckee in their final game, as they took advantage of seven free passes despite recording just three hits.

Garcia doubled and drove in a run, while Addison Lay and Braelyn Santana each singled and plated a run as well.

This week is pivotal for Colusa (16-5, 8-0) as they squared off against Sacramento Valley League rival East Nicolaus (14-5, 7-0) starting at home on Apr. 29, then finishing the series today in Trowbridge.
