COLUSA, CA (MPG) – Congratulations to Eloise of Colusa High School! Eloise won first place at the Colusa County Science & Engineering Fair! Her project, titled “Trick for a Treat,” explored the question: Do dogs prefer a tasty treat or lovable praise? To investigate, she worked with three dogs, measuring how many times each performed a trick for the same reward. The next day, she switched the reward and repeated the process. By comparing the number of successful tricks for each reward, she determined which incentive was more motivating. Her findings confirmed her hypothesis—dogs preferred treats over praise as a reward for performing tricks.
