COLUSA, CA (MPG) – For 20 years Colusa High School has hosted what is now known as the Randy Watt Invitational Tournament, but this rendition may have been the most dominant performance by the RedHawks, who collectively outscored opponents Corning, Oroville, Yreka and Woodland Christian 39-1.
Leading the way was Colusa’s senior pitcher and All-Section selection from last season, Ava Garcia, who in 13 innings of work last Friday and Saturday recorded 26 strikeouts, did not concede an earned run and surrendered just two hits.
Yet, the RedHawks also have a formidable lineup as well, as they pounded out 29 hits over the four games.
Starting off with a 12-0 romp over Corning on Mar. 7, Garcia went 3 for 3 with a pair of RBI, while Elli Santana finished 2 for 3 with three RBI and freshman Zayla Ramirez added two-run double.

In its second game on the day, Colusa dismantled Oroville by a score of 16-0 behind Santana, who was 2 for 2 with three runs scored and Addison Lay who went 2 for 3 with a double.
Garcia and Braelyn Santana combined to no-hit the Tigers in a contest that lasted just three innings.
It was more of the same on Saturday as the RedHawks shutout Yreka 10-0 in the first game of the day with Braelyn Santana punishing Miners’ pitching going 3 for 3 with a double and three RBI.

Rounding out the tournament with an 11-1 victory over Woodland Christian, Abril Guzman had a bases-clearing double, while Eliza Mitchum went 1 for 2, driving in a pair of runs.
Unbeaten in five games, Colusa hosted Clear Lake and U-Prep on Mar. 11 and 13 respectively, then hits the road today to face Wheatland.
