ARBUCKLE, CA (MPG) – In their final preseason tune-up matches the Bears showed off some firepower as they downed Oroville at home on Jan. 7 by a score of 10-2, then went on the road to face Gridley where they emerged with the 6-2 victory.
Leading the onslaught against the visiting Tigers was Sofia Hernandez-Ruiz who recorded a hat trick, Adelyn Flores with a goal and three assists, while Esmeralda Garcia and Brenda Granados both scored once and assisted on two others.
Also finding the back of the net in the win was Yarely Ruiz, Marisol Hernandez, Ava Ruiz and Jaelene Cadenas.
It was more of the same in Gridley with Pierce seemingly scoring at will.
Yarely Ruiz and Flores each finished with a brace of goals, while Granados and Lyla Maldonado scored one apiece.
Now 3-2 overall, the Bears hoped to continue their momentum when they opened Sacramento Valley League play in Willows on Tuesday ahead of returning home to entertain Colusa on Thursday.
