COLUSA, CA (MPG) – Coming off a disappointing 34-38 loss in Durham on Jan. 7, the RedHawks bounced back nicely three days later to post a 42-27 win over East Nicolaus on Homecoming.
Having just shot 19 percent from the floor in the road loss to the Trojans, Colusa initially remained in an offensive funk against the Spartans, scoring just six points in the opening period and finding itself down three.

Yet, as the game wore on, the RedHawks turned to the inside game featuring McKenna Azbill, then saw their outside shooters heat up, allowing them to pull away from the visitors by outscoring them 24-10 in the second half.
Leading scorer Danica Chavez had a game-high 16 points, while Azbill finished with 11 points.
Colusa also got a boost from Alena Sanchez, who hit two key shots in the third quarter to help the RedHawks maintain their advantage.
In their setback to Durham, Chavez had 15 points, with Addison Lay, the team’s leading rebounder, collecting nine boards.

This week the RedHawks (10-6, 2-1) looked to stay on track playing a non-conference game in Clear Lake on Jan.15, before returning home to play Pierce this evening.
