Girls:

Colusa 57 – River Valley 33 (12/19)

Colusa 45 – Chico 57 (12/20)

Colusa 47 – Placer 52 (12/21)

Playing at Sutter’s tournament, the RedHawks advanced to the winner’s bracket with a victory over River Valley, but ran into some stiffer competition against Chico and Placer and as a result had to settle for fourth place.

 

Danica Chavez paced Colusa with 17 points against RV, with McKenna Azbill pitching in with 10 points.

 

Facing Chico the following day, Chavez finished with 16 points, while Peyton Miller added 10 more.

 

No statistics from the loss to Placer were made available by Colusa (7-5), who returns to the court on Jan. 3 at home when it hosts Paradise in its Sacramento Valley League opener.

 

Pierce 31 – Fortuna 43 (12/19)

Pierce 50 – Orland 54 (12/20)

Pierce 52 – Mt. Shasta 21 (12/21)

Fresh off a win at the Natalie Corona Invitational, the Bears came up short in Orland at the Lady Trojan Invitational as they dropped their first two games, although got back on track with a rout of Mt. Shasta in the finale.

Pierce (8-4) played a final preseason game in Natomas on Dec. 28, before opening Sacramento Valley League play tonight in Winters.

 

Princeton 30 – Biggs 56 (12/19)

Princeton 24 – Los Molinos 35

Princeton 32 – Loyalton 43 (12/21)

It was a rough go of it for the Eagles as they went winless at the Block LM Tournament.

 

Playing two games on the opening day, Mackenzie Wills posted a 16-point, 13 rebound double-double in the loss to Biggs, then came back to finish with a team-high 10 points against the host Bulldogs.

 

Statistics from the game with Loyalton were not provided.

 

Princeton (5-4) rounds out the preseason with a non-conference contest in Chester on Jan. 6, ahead of its Pioneer League opener in Elk Creek on Jan. 7.

Having downed Providence and the host Bulldogs in their first two games at the Block LM Tournament in Los Molinos, the Eagles made their first appearance in the championship, although they did not have enough in the tank to hold off Paradise.

 

Nate Ramirez was on fire over the three games, averaging 32.7 points.

 

A junior, Ramirez poured in 35 points in the opener, followed up with a 38-point, 12-steal double-double, then finished the tournament with 25 points and eight steals.

 

Chris Roberson also made significant contributions, recording a double-double against Providence that included 22 points and 10 rebounds, then in his second game of the day went for 14 points and grabbed nine boards.

 

Meanwhile, Isaac Muniz had a breakout performance with a 14-point, 12-rebound double-double in first game, then dropped in 13 points and corralled seven rebounds in the loss to Paradise.

 

Princeton (5-4) heads to Chester on Jan. 6 for its final preseason game, then opens conference play on the road in Elk Creek on Jan. 7.
