COLUSA COUNTY, CA (MPG) – Eight county football players received post-season accolades in the Sacramento Valley League following the end of the season.

Pierce, which finished as the second place team received six selections, while sixth place Colusa garnered two.
Three seniors, including Drew Burnum, Humberto Esqueda and Gavin Guynn topped the list for the Bears.
In his final season for Pierce, Burnum completed 56 of 102 passes for 798 yards and nine touchdowns which resulted in a quarterback rating of 101.7, in addition to rushing for another 192 yards and five scores.
At defensive end, Esqueda was a menace for other teams, finishing with 65 tackles, 29 for losses, six sacks and 13 hurries in just his second year of football.

One of Burnum’s favorite targets, Guynn caught 35 passes for 355 yards for an average 10.1 per catch and five touchdowns, then also made 45 tackles on defense.
Rounding out the Bears’ All-SVL contingent was a pair of junior defensive backs in Austin Jorge and Thomas Sweet, along with fellow junior and offensive lineman Alejandro Alcaraz, all of whom will play crucial roles for Pierce next season.
As for the RedHawks, who were decimated by injury and never able to get on track, two seniors, in Damien Arreguin and Jose Valenica, received All-League recognition for their efforts.

Although complete statistics from the season were not available, Arreguin performed admirably at both linebacker and running back, while Valencia was the only lineman from last year’s state championship team to play the entire season.
