WILLIAMS, CA (MPG) – With the cross country season drawing to a close, Sacramento Valley League runners convened at Williams High School on Oct. 30 for a tune-up ahead of this week’s championship meet.

As has been the case thus far in the varsity boy’s competition, Colusa’s Benji Granados led the pack as he crossed the line first in a time of 17:32.
Following Granados was Williams’s Manuel Santillan (18:39) in second, Pierce’s Gavin Guynn (19:24) in third and Colusa teammate Cesar Cruz (19:26) in fourth.
Rounding out the top 10 finishers was Pierce’s Abram Carrillo (20:56) in seventh and a trio of RedHawks in Jose Ceron (20:57), Marcos Deniz (21:07) and Karim Cruz (21:08) in eighth, ninth and tenth respectively.
In the varsity girl’s race Colusa took eight of the 10 top spots led by race winner Rajdeep Shoker (21:45) and Eloise Guerrero (23:20) who finished second.

Pierce’s Karina Grajeda (24:02) was third and ahead of the RedHawk contingent that included Shaheen Orr (25:08) in fifth, Giselle Valdes (25:11) in sixth, Bella Badaluco (26:10) in seventh, Jaylene Chavez (26:17) in eighth, Cristal Bruno (26:43) in ninth and Josslyn Garcia (26:57) in tenth.
Colusa’s Hunter Sheirbeck (12:43) outdistanced the field in the JV boy’s race, while among the JV girls, the Bear’s Marisol Hernandez (15:32) and Lesly Herrera (15:59) were first and third respectively, ahead of the Yellowjackets’ Angelly Garcia (17:35) in fifth.
SVL harriers were in Colusa at the Colusa-Sacramento River State Recreation Area for the championship meet on Nov. 6.
