CORNING, CA (MPG) – With the official season just barely underway, cross country runners from Colusa, Pierce and Williams made the trek to Black Butte Lake Buckhorn Campground to participate alongside 18 other teams at Orland’s Black Butte Invitational on Sept. 20.
Some of the best results for the local harriers were in the varsity boy’s competition, where Colusa finished in fifth place, while Williams landed in seventh.
RedHawk senior Benji Granados (20:37.81) was seventh overall in the 5,000 meter race that had 108 participants, while the Yellowjackets’ freshman Manuel Santillan (21:42.41) finished in the twentieth spot.
In the varsity girls 5,000 meters, Colusa junior Rajdeep Shoker (26:38.87) took ninth in the field of 45, teammate Eloise Guerrero (27:31.50), a sophomore, was eleventh and Pierce senior Karina Grajedra (30:02.88) was nineteenth.
All three county teams participated in the Sacramento Valley League Preview race at the Sacramento River Recreation Area in Colusa on Sept. 25.
