
COLUSA, COUNTY, CA (MPG) – Coming off their win over Winters in the Northern Section Division III championship, it comes as no surprise that the Williams Yellowjackets boys’ soccer team topped the list of All-League selections in addition to garnering the Mid-Valley League Most Valuable Player and Coach of the Year.

Junior Ernie Lemus earned league MVP honors finishing the season with 27 goals and 21 assists including two in the NSCIF Division III title game that lifted the ‘Jackets to a 2-1 victory over Winters.
Joining Lemus on the All-MVL squad were seniors Kaled Rosales, Adrian Solis, Angel Munoz and Jesse Velazquez along with junior Leo Hernandez.
Rosales, in particular had a banner year, finishing with 78 points which included a section leading 42 assists along with 18 goals as Williams outscored its opponents 122-11.
After leading his squad to a perfect 10-0 conference and 18-1 overall record Coach Humberto Guzman took home Coach of the Year honors.

In addition to the Yellowjackets, Maxwell (5-3-1), the MVL’s second place team received four spots which were awarded to seniors Rudi Gonzalez and Robert Waite in addition to juniors Walter Avery and Massey Baker.
Toiling in the Sacramento Valley League, Colusa (9-10-3, 4-3-3) and Pierce (6-8-4, 3-3-4), the third and fourth place teams each had three players named to the All-League squad.

For the RedHawks, a trio of seniors including Noah Alvarez, Oziel Morales and Charlie Santana received recognition, while senior Edgar Lopez, junior Alejandro Escobar and sophomore Francisco Ruiz represented the Bears on the All-SVL team.
On the girls’ side, Colusa (8-10-4, 6-4) and Pierce (4-14-1. 3-6-1) both received three spots on the All-SVL squad, while in the MVL, Williams (7-9-3, 3-3-2) had three picks and Maxwell (1-5-2) wound up with two.
Seniors Allie Reading, Joanna Rodriguez and Adamariz Solorio earned honors in their final season for the RedHawks although three younger players in juniors Brenda Granados and Abbie Reynolds

along with sophomore Anahi Ruiz were acknowledged for the Bears.
Representing Williams, the third place team in the MVL, was senior Isabella Santillan, junior Jocelyn Santillan and freshman Daisy Ruiz, while seniors Emma Hendrix and Shelby Dunlap were the Panthers’ selections.
