Softball:

After banging out a combined 24 hits in back-to-back games against Sacramento Valley League foe Live Oak last week, the RedHawks remain a perfect 10-0 on the season.
In the first game against the Lions, Cece Mitchum led the way at the plate after going 3 for 4, while Abril Guzman and Ava Garcia each went 2 for 2 with a double.
Makalya Scortino also recorded a pair of hits and Aliah Ramirez drove in a pair of runs with a double to bring an end to the game in the sixth inning.
Garcia proved too much for the Lions in the circle, fanning 16 batters and scattering four hits.
Meeting again the following day, the RedHawks held a 3-0 advantage until the bottom of the fourth when the Lions pulled to within one, but Colusa didn’t break over the final three frames and additionally was able to tack on two insurance runs.
Edith Anderson swung a hot bat ending the game 3 for 3, while Mitchum and Addison Lay both went 2 for 4.
Garcia went the distance in the circle, throwing 104 pitches, striking out 12 and yielding eight hits.
This week, the RedHawks hosted Winters on Tuesday, traveled to Clear Lake on Thursday for a non-conference game and are in Winters today to complete the season series with the Warriors.
Pierce 1 – Willows 16 (3/19 – DH)
Pierce 5 – Willows 18
Pierce took it on the chin last week when they dropped both games of a Sacramento Valley League doubleheader on the road in Willows.
Sofia Rubio went 2 for 2 with a triple in the Bears’ first game, while Kendall Mulqueeny picked up the only other hit and Aubrey Hagle drove in the lone run.
In the nightcap, Isela Ambriz had a nice outing finishing 3 for 3 with an RBI, as did Cierra Dye who was 2 for 2 with a pair of doubles and three RBI.
Pierce (4-6, 0-2) looked to end its three game slide this week when it made the trip to Paradise on Mar. 26 before turning around to host the Bobcats on Mar. 29.
Baseball:

Pierce 9 – Willows 3
After a loss to Delta in a wild affair to start last week, the Bears settled down to business by notching a pair wins over Sacramento Valley League opponent Willows.
Playing the Saints in a marathon game at Sutter Health Park that saw a combined 31 free passes issued, Tony Maldonado led Pierce at the plate going 3 for 3 with a double and four RBI.
Colin Dye had a hit and drove in a pair of runs while Roberto Ramirez, Carlos Michel, Nathan Gomez and James Jordon each had one knock apiece.
Against the Honkers last Tuesday, Maldonado pitched a gem, going the distance on the hill where he surrendered just two hits and struck out six in addition to finishing 2 for 4 with an RBI to help his cause.
Nathan Gomez had a big day going 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI, while Mickey Acevedo and Colin Dye each collected two hits.
Down 3-1 going into the top of the fifth in the second game against Willows, the Bears erupted for seven runs in the frame to gain control.
Rodney Hofhenke turned in a nice performance striking out six Honker batters in six and two-thirds innings of work while also picking up three hits at the plate.
Colton Vanlaningham chipped in with a pair of hits and Maldonado doubled.
Now 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the SVL, Pierce was on the road in Paradise on Mar. 26 then returns home to host the Bobcats today.
Williams 14 – Lindhurst 17 (3/19-DH)

In its final tune up before Mid-Valley League play commences this week, the Yellowjackets put a ton of runs on the board but couldn’t break through for a win.
Williams (1-6-1), who entertained Biggs on Tuesday then hit the road to complete the season series with the Wolverines on Thursday, did not provide any statistics.
