Colusa Awards Community Sake Grants

COLUSA, CA (MPG) – Seven local nonprofit organizations will have the opportunity to boost their projects and programs, thanks to Community Sake Grants awarded by the City of Colusa.

The Colusa City Council in June allocated $30,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funding over a two-year period to assist organizations provide projects, programs, and resources that meet community needs, foster civic engagement, drive economic growth, and strengthen the fabric of Colusa.

The council awarded the grants on Oct. 3 to the Colusa County Arts Council ($3,200); Rotary Club of Colusa ($1,500); Colusa Founders Day ($2,800); Virginia Yerxa Community Read ($3,000); The Stagehands ($2,000); Colusa County Dreams and Wishes ($1,500); and Friends of the Library ($1,000).

President Joe Biden signed the ARPA on March 11, 2021, which allowed the City of Colusa to receive $1.4 million in funding to address the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Local non-profit and community organizations, including those which lost fundraising opportunities during the shutdown, were eligible to apply for the city’s grant program.

The City Council has another $10,800 allocated for non-profits in budget year 2024-25.
