Local Runners Compete at West Valley Invitational

COTTONWOOD, CA (MPG) – Cross country runners from Williams and Colusa made their way to West Valley High School on Oct. 6 for the Eagles’ Coed Invitational where they performed admirably.
However, three local participants turned in particularly noteworthy performances in races that included some of the Northern Section’s top competitors.
Yellowjacket senior Isabella Santillan garnered the highest placing among the county runners, finishing fourth in a field of 63 with a mark of 21:17 on the three-mile course.
In the largest race of the day, which included 121 runners, Colusa junior Benji Granados set a personal record of 18:41 to cross the line 14th.
Rounding out the top finishers was Williams sophomore Lorielle Contreras, who, in the JV girls contest, ran a personal best of 19:16 on the two-mile route, which was good for ninth place.
Teams will return to Cottonwood on Nov. 9 for the Northern Section CIF Cross Country Championships. H
