DURHAM, CA (MPG) – Harriers from Williams and Maxwell were among the participants at the third Mid-Valley League meet on Sept. 27 at Durham High School.
Williams freshman Leonardo Esparza set a personal record in the varsity boys race, completing the course in fourth, with a time of 19:41 and leading the ‘Jackets’ squad to a second place finish at the meet, just five points behind CORE Butte.
Teammate Gerardo Navarro (21:40) also cracked the top 10, crossing the line eighth.
Jocelyn Santillan, the only local entry in the varsity girl’s race, took sixth in a time of 32:54.
In the JV boys’ contest, Maxwell’s Evan Mathis (14:04) was fourth, while the Panthers’ Jayden Karlonas (16:00) finished third in the JV girl’s race, ahead of Williams’ Lorielle Contreras (17:20) in fourth.
This week teams reconvened in Maxwell on Oct. 4, before heading to Cottonwood for the West Valley Coed Invitational today. H
