
Colusa kept pace with East Nicolaus in the Sacramento Valley League standings after posting wins over Durham 25-21, 25-13, 25-14 and Winters 26-24, 25-13, 25-14, but could not get past Division IV rival U-Prep, falling 25-23, 18-25, 15-25, 17-25.
At home against the visiting Trojans, the RedHawks’ frontline duo of Elle Faris and Addison Lay continued its strong play as Faris recorded 12 kills and 12 assists, while Lay 22 assists and 13 digs.
In the back row, Abril Guzman made 13 digs and returned 11 serves.
On the road in Redding against U-Prep, Guzman turned in a herculean effort with 28 digs and 47 service receptions, but the RedHawks were outhit 50-30 by the Panthers and couldn’t overcome the deficit.
Lay registered a team high 14 kills, McKenna Azbill pitched in with seven, while Cece Mitchum made 14 digs for the defense.
No statistics from the win over Winters were available.
Colusa (20-9, 7-1) hosted Live Oak on Oct. 3 then traveled to Paradise on Oct. 5.. H
