Six Straight for Colusa Tennis

COLUSA, CA (MPG) – September has been a good month for the Colusa girls tennis team as they defeated two more opponents last week to run its win streak to six straight matches and remain unbeaten in the Sacramento Valley League.

To start last week, the RedHawks proved to be ungracious hosts when they blanked Paradise 9-0, then followed up on the road with a 6-3 win over Live Oak.

At home against the Bobcats on Sept. 19, Olivia Nair (6-2, 6-2) Savanna Rochette (6-0, 6-1), Vianey Farias (6-1, 6-2), Joanna Rodriguez (6-2, 6-1), Ashley Perez (6-2, 6-1), and Melanie Pinon (6-0, 6-1) all picked up wins in singles.
Colusa then went on to sweep the doubles matches with the pairings of Nair/Rochette (8-6), Farias/Rodriguez (8-2), and Perez/Janell Garcia (8-1) downing their opponents.

Things were a little tougher in Live Oak two days later, as despite Nair (2-6, 6-4, 5-10) and Rodriguez (6-0, 3-6, 7-10) suffering tiebreak losses in the No.1 and No. 3 spots respectively, the rest of the RedHawk ladder emerged victorious. No. 2 Rochette blew past her opponent 6-0, 6-0, No. 4 Perez won 6-1, 6-3, No. 5 Garcia triumphed 6-0, 3-6, 10-5, while Lizbet Ayala came out on top 7-5, 6-0.

In doubles, the RedHawks took two of the three matches with Nair/Rochette prevailing 8-6 and Perez/Garcia winning easily 8-0.

Now 4-0 in SVL play, Colusa hosted Willows on Sept. 26 before making the trip to Paradise on Sept. 28.
