I want to give credit where credit is due and express my gratitude as a taxpayer who has funded the Colusa Basin Drainage District since its inception. My Great Big Thank You goes to Don Perez, who was recently reappointed to the CBDD Board to represent the interests of the Glenn County Public. True to his appointment to represent the public interest, at a CBDD Project Committee meeting recently held on Aug. 22, Don suggested that any Landowner Initiatives which may be funded by CBDD assessments be coordinated with Resource Conservation Districts, the local NRCS, and Groundwater Authorities of Glenn, Colusa and Yolo Counties. His suggestion was a much-appreciated act, in my opinion, to promote fairness, transparency, and provide the possibility for collaborative action and collaborative funding. More importantly, Don suggested that the CBDD put the final death stake into the failed $17,980,000 proposed project at the Glenn County Cattle Ranch on Willow Creek, west of Willows, and come up with a plan on what to do with the Cattle Ranch going forward. Don mentioned that although he was not part of the process at inception, it was very controversial at the time it was proposed and never fully supported. Thank You Don!
Sincerely,
Ben King
