
WILLIAMS, CA (MPG) – The learning process continued for the Yellowjackets in their two matches last week, as they fell to Durham 25-23, 21-25, 19-25, 22-25 at home before outlasting the Lions in Live Oak 25-14, 25-27, 25-15, 22-25,17-15.
Williams staged a come-from-behind rally to capture the first set against the Trojans, but ultimately unforced errors proved too much to overcome.
Mia Rivera tallied 16 kills and made eight digs in the loss, Gisele Navarro also recorded eight digs in addition to handing out 13 assists, while Andrea Rivera chipped in with 10 digs.
Against the Lions, the ‘Jackets survived two set points to get to a fifth and final set, where, according to Coach Darren Robinson, they “gutted it out.”
Serving was key in the win as the squad landed a total of 24 aces in the match. Mia Rivera finished with nine kills and seven aces, with Andrea Rivera adding six more aces. Navarro had a team-high eight assists, while Ariana Paiz dished out six assists, in addition to serving five aces.
This week, Williams (4-7) had a tough task on Tuesday when it hosted unbeaten East Nicolaus, then concluded its week in Winters on Thursday.
