Life is Good: Life changes

I’m happy to be having time with friends and family here in California.

I’ve been busy since arriving and admittedly the old girl is kind of tired.
Life changes. We change.

My pod of people seem the same, but the atmosphere of the county I grew up in is different.

Life was simpler in the 60s.

My friend Deb, with whom I’m staying, and I have talked a lot about it this past week. Our youth was a magical time. We didn’t feel the pressures the kids deal with now.

We feel blessed to have been raised in the country lifestyle. Nothing was handed to us. We earned our way. Those are great life lessons.

We entertained ourselves without video games. Fresh air was our playground. If, at the end of the day, we came in dirty and sweaty, it had been a good day.

Sadly, we’ve lost some friends along the way. We remember them well and don’t forget.
Some went to Vietnam and didn’t come home. Others grew older and left us then. We are in the zone.

Tom and I travel a lot because that is what we like to do. But, mainly, we don’t want to wake up and realize we’re too old or sick to do it.

I heard for years how my parents would travel in retirement. They put it off, and then it was too late. They weren’t healthy enough to do it.

So, we go on.

For now, life is good today. ■
