March 2023 – Williams Police Department

Williams Police Department reported approximately 732 events logged during the month of March, 2023, according to the report of Lt. Christopher Miller. This included calls for service, proactive enforcement, and extra patrols. This was a decrease from February which had approximately 744 events. During March 2023, there were 62 reports initiated, 28 misdemeanor arrests, and 1 felony arrest. There were 33 citations issued for various traffic violations and misdemeanor charges.

Background investigations were completed on the department’s three police trainee applicants, and they will be moving onto the next phase of the hiring process, Miller said.

Once the last phases of the hiring process are complete, the applicants will begin the Butte College Academy on July 5, 2023. All three applicants are Colusa County natives and still reside in the county.

Miller said Williams police records and evidence technicians have completed an extensive record purging process to move the agency into a nearly paperless system, which is better for the environment and much more efficient to maintain. â–
