Williams Police Department report for February

The Williams Police Department logged 744 events during the month of February. This included calls for service, proactive enforcement, and extra patrols. This is a decrease from January, which was approximately 782 events. The call volume was higher when compared to February 2022, which had 634 events logged, according to Lt. Christopher Miller.

During February 2023, there were 43 reports initiated, 23 misdemeanor arrests, and zero felony arrests. There were 57 citations issued for various traffic violations and other misdemeanor charges.

Meanwhile, background investigations are nearly completed on three candidates for police officer trainee positions, which are on track to begin the Butte College Police Academy in July. Williams officers have also attended training courses that include traffic collision investigations, field training, use of force, field sobriety testing, and forensic investigations. â–
