ORDINANCE SUMMARY

The County of Colusa adopted Ordinance No. 829 adding Chapter 18C (Emergency Medical Ground Transportation Transactions and Use Tax Ordinance) to the Colusa County Ordinance Code.  This ordinance would create a one-half of one percent (0.5%) sales tax to be levied on the sale or use of “tangible personal property” sold at retail countywide.  The tax would be paid in addition to current sales taxes and would be administered by the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration, in the same manner that the current sales tax is administered.  The tax is a special tax that can only be used to support emergency medical ground transportation.  The ordinance would also require the Board of Supervisors to create a Citizen Advisory Committee.  The special tax was approved by more than two-thirds of the voters at the November 8, 2022 general election.

This ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days after its passage. It shall be published once with the names of the members of the Board of Supervisors voting for and against the ordinance in a newspaper of general circulation published in the County of Colusa, State of California, within fifteen (15) days after its passage.
