
Colusa finished the regular season strong sweeping by Pierce on the road on Oct. 18 before returning home to handle visiting Durham in relatively easy fashion two days later.
In the 25-15, 25-19, 25-21 victory over Pierce, Carly Simmons powered the RedHawks with 10 kills.
Three other RedHawks joined the hit parade against the Bears with Karsyn Gwinnup, Elle Faris, and Addison Lay each accounting for eight kills.
Gwinnup also doled out 22 assists, while Brooklyn Bradbury handed out 15 more.
Defensively, sophomore call-up Abril Guzman finished with 13 digs and 15 service receptions.
Playing the Trojans on Senior Night, Colusa emerged with the 25-18, 25-16, 25-18 led by the squad’s upperclassmen.
Gwinnup tallied 13 kills and hit at a .393 clip, in addition to making eight digs.
Jasmine Bernardo also had a hot hand, concluding the match with a .487 hitting percentage that equated to nine kills, and moreover made seven digs.
Bradbury dished out 21 assists and pitched in with seven more digs, whereas Simmons posted a team-high 11 digs.
After finishing the regular season as the third place team in the SVL, the RedHawks received the No. 3 seed in the Northern Section CIF Division IV playoffs, where they earned a first round bye.
Colusa (24-9) next plays on Nov. 1 in Willows (30-7), where it meets the No. 2 Honkers in the semifinal round, which is also the rubber match between the two squads this season. ■
