Candidate Profiles: County Clerk-Recorder

Cristy Jayne Edwards –  I am running for the Colusa County Clerk and Recorder position because I feel that I can bring strong public service paired with economical management of public resources, emphasizing unbiased and nonpartisan service to all, with cornerstone principles of respect, competence, and integrity. Beginning in the Clerk and Recorder’s office approximately 35 years ago, I served as a volunteer while I was completing my associate degree in Business and obtaining my certification as a paralegal. I have since experienced three decades of experience in both private and public service. I managed and co-owned Louis Cairo’s restaurant, worked for Colusa County as a Superior Court Clerk, and served organizations that include the Colusa Preschool Board of Directors, Maxwell Elementary Site Council, Partners for Future of Ag, and Ag Advisory committee. I was a 4H leader for many years, co-chair of the Sacramento Valley Museum Bottle Show fundraiser, and I was elected and served on the Maxwell School Board of Trustees, and currently serve as Trustee Area 4 for Colusa County Office of Education. These board positions have helped give me a unique understanding of public resource budgets. I live in Leesville with my family and am self employed, co-owning our fencing business.

Amy Rennick Schmidt – As a visionary for Colusa County, I chose to run for County Clerk so I can lead this office into the future by advancing technology, expanding electronic access to records, and creating ease in real estate transactions, which is vital to business. I will ensure election integrity and maintain the highest level of professionalism and friendliness in these tasks. I will strive to keep public services at the highest level possible despite budgetary issues, a declining economy, and severe drought. My qualifications include 10 years of employment with Colusa County, five in the Clerk’s Office. I have owned and successfully operated our family construction business for the last 7 years and gained valuable experience in different areas. I have a BS in Construction Management with a minor in Business. I recently passed the California State Real Estate exam to become licensed in real estate transactions. I am engaged in community development projects for residential housing. Our business has donated to many construction projects to benefit the community, including Youth Football, Little League, Schools, and the Airport. I serve on the Colusa Rotary Board of Directors and have been involved in different service committees, boards, and school events throughout my life.
