
After dropping a non-conference match in Gridley to start last week, the RedHawks bounced back to sweep Sacramento Valley League foes Live Oak and Paradise.
Pushed to five sets, for only the second time all season, Colusa could not hold off the Bulldogs and fell 25-22, 18-25, 19-25, 29-27, 8-15.
Karsyn Gwinnup posted a triple-double that included 14 kills, 18 assists, and 10 digs, as did Carly Simmons, who finished with 10 kills, 10 digs, and 33 service receptions.
Two RedHawks recorded double-doubles in the match, with Brooklyn Bradbury handing out 17 assists and making 10 digs, and Lexy Avera registering 13 digs and 27 receptions.
Colusa rebounded the following evening against a struggling Live Oak squad, downing the Lions 25-15, 25-14, 25-7.
Elle Faris turned in a strong overall performance with seven kills, five aces, six digs, and 10 service receptions to lead the RedHawks.
Gwinnup dished out 12 assists and hammered five kills, while Simmons, Jasmine Bernardo, and Addison Lay contributed five kills apiece.
Rounding out last week, Colusa returned home to make short work of Paradise as they cruised to a 25-12, 25-16, 25-12 win.
Faris stayed hot, finishing with 12 kills, Gwinnup pitched in with six kills, while Bradbury doled out 14 assists.
Colusa (20-8, 8-2) ranked 10th overall in the Northern Section and third in Division IV, and looks to improve its standing in Sacramento Valley League when it hosts first place East Nicolaus on Tuesday ahead of its match at home against second place Willows on Wednesday. ■
