PG&E urges customers to stay safe, conserve energy

PG&E is prepared for the coming high heat and urges customers to stay safe and conserve energy. PG&E’s in-house meteorologists are actively monitoring the weather around the clock, using that data to be ready to respond quickly to potential heat-related power outages or other issues.

“As the heat event is a fluid situation, we’ll continually monitor the weather conditions and forecast and ensure our resources are at the ready to respond to any power outages,” said Paul Moreno, PG&E spokesperson, in a news release. No Flex Alerts have been issued by the California Independent System Operator (CAISO), which manages the state’ power grid. Nor is PG&E planning any Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events for the next week or longer. PG&E urges people to stay safe and conserve energy by opening windows in the early morning to bring cooler air in pre-cool homes; Clear the area around air conditioning units so they will operate better with room to breathe; replace filters as needed so the AC does not have to work harder; close shades to block sunlight and heat; use fans to keep air circulating; set thermostat at 78 degrees or higher, health permitting. ■
