The Williams Police Department reported approximately 916 events for July 2022. This included calls for service, proactive enforcement, and extra patrols, Lt. Chris Martin reported.
This is an increase from June, which was approximately 818 events. There were 68 reports initiated, 31 misdemeanor arrests, and six felony arrests. There were 42 citations issued for various traffic violations and misdemeanor charges.
There were five DUI drivers arrested, and three stolen vehicles were recovered. WPD was involved in two pursuits during the month of July, one for a suspected DUI driver and the other for a reckless driver. The DUI driver was arrested after crossing into Glenn County where a spike strip was deployed. The second driver crashed his vehicle and fled on foot. The driver has been identified and currently has a warrant out for his arrest. WPD also investigated an arson that occurred in a bathroom at Williams High School. â–
