The Board of Supervisors approved the purchase of a budgeted ultra low freezer from Life Science Refrigeration on Tuesday. The $10,930 freezer (with tax) for the Department of Public Health will be used to store vaccines. The temperature range for this freezer is 40C to -86C. The department requested the stand up model with inner doors that protect the vaccine from temperature fluctuations when the main door is opened. The freezer has multiple shelves, a 72-hour battery backup, data logger with memory, and the required exterior lock. The department requested quotes from four vendors and received two from companies that could provide the model or comparable model requested. LSR was the lowest by about $1,700. The freezer is in stock and ready to ship.
