Colusa County Superior Court Judge Jeffrey A. Thompson on Monday found there was sufficient evidence for a Live Oak woman to stand trial for transporting a controlled substance for sale.
A Colusa County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested Christina Marie Joven, 32, on Feb. 18, after initiating a traffic stop on her vehicle on Four Mile Road, in Maxwell, for an expired registration.
According to Deputy John Thomas, who testified at Joven’s preliminary hearing, Joven was wanted and detained on an arrest warrant out of Marin County.
During a search of her vehicle, Colusa County Sheriff’s officials allegedly found a forged vehicle registration, 17.29 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a digital scale, several hundred unused small ziplock baggies, two glass smoking devices, and a “Monkey-fist slungshot,” which was tied from paracord, Thomas said. The cue ball-sized maritime tool, which is illegal in California when carried as a concealed weapon, is an antiquated gang weapon that is popular today with women, who use it for protection.
Joven will be arraigned on felony drug charges on April 18. ■
