Candidate filing status will close at 5 PM on Friday for several offices in which the incumbent has filed for reelection.
Offices will close for District 1 Supervisor, Assessor, Auditor-Controller, Colusa County Superior Court Judge, Sheriff-Coroner, Superintendent of Schools, and Treasurer-Tax Collector, said Clerk/Recorder Rose Gallo-Vasquez.
“If the incumbent officeholder files by the March 11 deadline, the filing period will close and there will be no extended filing period,” Gallo-Vasquez said, in a news release. “If the incumbent officeholder does not file by 5 PM this Friday, an extended filing period will begin.”
Colusa County offices will be voted on in the June 7, 2022, Statewide Direct Primary Election.
As of Monday, the incumbent officeholders that have not filed for reelection include District Attorney Matthew Beauchamp, District 5 Supervisor Denise Carter, and Clerk/Recorder Rose Gallo-Vasquez.
If the incumbents do not file, the deadline for the contest will be extended to 5 PM on March 16.
“The extended filing period is open to any qualified candidates other than the incumbent officeholder,” Gallo-Vasquez said.
Potential candidates for any of the County Offices listed are reminded that the filing fee is due at the time nomination petitions are issued, the requisite number of valid nominating signatures, and all candidate filing forms must be completed by 5 PM. on the applicable deadline.
Candidates that have filed for office include Brendan Farrell for District Attorney. District 5 Supervisor candidates include Marilyn R. Acree, Richard D. Selover, and Janice Bell.
As of Monday, no candidates have filed for Clerk-Recorder, however, several individuals have been issued nominating petitions, including Amy Schmidt, Cristy Edwards, and Amy Greenhalgh.
