Lila Lee Sankey passed away peacefully with her children by her side on Feb. 11, 2022, in Chico, CA.
Lila Lee was born on April 10, 1929 in Arbuckle, CA, the only child of Dale and Marion Mumma. The family resided in Colusa where Lila Lee attended Our Lady of Lourdes School. Upon high school graduation, she continued her education at Holy Names College in Oakland, CA, earning her teaching credentials.
She began her teaching career in Grimes, CA, later moving to Colusa Elementary School where she taught for over 40 years. She touched the lives of many in Colusa as their first teacher.
Lila Lee married Harold Wilsey Jr. in 1952. They had three children together, Deidre, Kirk, and Michael.
In 1982, Lila Lee married Fred Sankey. They enjoyed a wonderful life together traveling, frequent trips to Fort Bragg, and attending the annual Bing Crosby Pro-Am in Monterey, CA.
Lila Lee is survived by her daughter Deidre Wilsey, Son Kirk (Teresa) Wilsey, Lisa Wilsey, Paul (Kathy) Sankey, Janine Gerdes and grandchildren Steven, Kristin, Christopher, Shannon, Brett, and Alyssa. She is proceeded in death by her son Michael.
Viewing will be held at McNary Moore Chapel, 107 5th St., Colusa, CA on Tuesday, Feb. 22, from 4 PM to 7 PM, Rosary will begin at 6 PM. There will be a Catholic Mass held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Colusa on Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 10 AM, burial to follow at Grand Island Cemetery (Grimes, CA) and reception at Rocco’s Bar & Grill, 546 Market St., Colusa, CA.
