George Costa

02/08/1960 - 01/31/2022

George Costa, 61, of Maxwell passed away peacefully in his home on the morning of Jan. 31, 2022. 

George was born Feb. 8, 1960, to George and Catherine Costa. 

In 1992, George married his beloved wife Laurie in Colusa, and together they raised two daughters in Maxwell. 

George graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo after studying agronomy and making memories with his brothers in Alpha Gamma Roe. George spent his life contributing to his community through a farming career, volunteer work as an EMT firefighter for Maxwell, PCA with Simplot, helping with EDC for the Colusa Indian Community Counsel, founding partner in Ridgetop Warehouse and California Heritage Mills, mentoring numerous kids’ lamb projects, coaching flag football, basketball, and softball, participation on the Maxwell School Board, the Land Bank Board, and director on the Colusa-Glenn Farm Credit, and much, much more. 

George is preceded in death by his parents, George and Catherine Costa, and his infant brother, Craig Costa. 

He is survived by his wife, Laurie, his daughters, Allison and Carli, and the two he viewed as sons, George and Luis. 

Services were held on Feb. 8, and Feb. 9, with interment held at the Maxwell Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Maxwell Fire Department. George is known as a leader, a role model, and a friend to all. 

He lived and led by the motto, “if you think you can, you can, and if you think you can’t, you’re right.” 

George’s warmth and kindness will live forever in the hearts of the countless people who loved him.
