Ferreria to lead Western Fairs Association

Carolann Ferreria

A Maxwell native and former Colusa County Fair CEO has been selected to lead the Western Fairs Association Board of Directors.

Carolan Ferreria, who is the chief executive officer of Professional Event Services, will be inaugurated at the Association’s annual conference next week in Reno.

During the past two years, Ferreria has served the board as vice president and treasurer.

Western Fairs Association is a non-profit trade association serving the Fair industry throughout the Western United States and Canada. WFA members include fair-related businesses, fair management, fair board directors, festivals, foundations, and industry associations. All WFA directors are elected by their respective sectors and serve three-year terms.

As the Board of Directors chairwoman, Ferreria will represent the more than 800 Western Fairs Association members and will work on their behalf for legislative advocacy, as well as govern the activities and policies of the association.

Ferreria will serve at the helm of the 19-member elected Board of Directors for one year and is ultimately accountable for all of the Association’s programs.

“I’m honored to have been selected as the 2022 Western Fairs Association Chair,” Ferreria said, in a news release. “The Fair Industry has faced many challenges these past couple years. Working with the WFA Board and WFA staff, I look forward to promoting the prosperity of fairs through educational activities, training programs, and legislative advocacy.”

Ferreria is no stranger to the fair industry. She spent her youth working locally at the Colusa County Fairgrounds while obtaining her bachelor’s of science degree in agricultural education from California Polytechnic State University, in San Luis Obispo.  Ferreria expanded on her event management career while working for Contemporary Services Corporation at Candlestick Park with the San Francisco 49ers, the Berkeley Bears Football Team, Stanford Stadium, and various other event venues in California.  Ferreria served as the chief executive officer of the Colusa County Fairgrounds for six years, from 2005 to 2011. She is a graduate of the Institute of Fair Management from the International Association of Fairs and Expositions.

Ferreria’s event company, Professional Event Services, leads the industry in security, parking, and admissions management.
