Betty White challenge lets fans honor late star, love of animals

Golden Girls actress Betty White passed away on New Year’s Eve, just three weeks before her 100th birthday. She is noted most for her roles in “The Golden Girls” and “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.”

White was a pioneer of early television, with a bountiful career spanning 75 years, both in front of and behind the camera. Her love for laughter equally matched her love for animals, and a new challenge is sweeping the nation, the “Betty White Challenge.”

As White dedicated herself to protecting and improving the quality of life for animals worldwide, fans are being invited to donate $5 to their local animal shelter on Jan. 17.

In Colusa County donations to the Friend’s of the Colusa County Animal Shelter (FOCCAS) can be sent to PO Box 147, Colusa, CA 95932.
