County hosts community clean-up

Colusa County and Recology’s Community Clean-Up  series kicked off late last month at locations in Grimes and College City. The next event for Colusa County residents is scheduled for Princeton on Friday, Dec. 10.

County representatives will be on-hand to meet with residents who participate in the clean-up event. Debris boxes will be available for residents to dispose of household waste and approved debris at no charge, from 9 AM to 1 PM, at the Princeton Branch Library, 232 Prince St.

In addition to the clean-up, county representatives will be on-site to address questions and  concerns, and provide updates on local programs and initiatives. These representatives include District 5 Supervisor Denise Carter, the Code Compliance Officer, and Building Inspector.

Most household refuse, such as old toys, clothing, bagged trash, and furnishings, will be accepted for disposal.

The following items will not be accepted: hazardous materials (batteries, paints, oils, chemicals, pesticides, smoke detectors, fluorescent lights, etc.); e-waste (televisions, computer monitors and accessories, VCRs, CD/DVD players, stereo  equipment, microwaves, etc.); asbestos tiles or pipe; compressed gas; concrete, dirt, rocks, brick, asphalt, or sand; and treated wood waste.
