We all know I get wrapped up in tradition.
It’s the little things in life, the repeated family traditions, that make the world a better place. At least that’s how I feel about it.
Nothing is more important to me than to have time with my family. We all have our favorite parts of the holidays.
The season is upon us and I couldn’t be more pleased. Some folks may find transitions silly or unimportant. For me, it’s the little things done repeatedly that pleases me. Although I get more tired than I used to, I still enjoy making the favorite treats of each family member. I can always take a break and rest up before I go again.
The grandkids have decorated our tree. We two old folks are gradually getting out the other decorations.
The good news is that Rocky dog didn’t eat the tree. We didn’t know how he’d react, but so far, so good. I guess he wasn’t planning revenge for leaving him at the doggie hotel after all.
Last week, we had a Friday Thanksgiving dinner. We’ve found that schedules of the entire family have meant we celebrate on Friday. It works for us.
For the last couple of years, my son Val and fiancé Sami have hosted, and it’s always delicious. I’m thankful for them hosting, but I’m most thankful that we are all together.
Later next year, my daughter and I will attend a writer’s retreat. The leader of the retreat is a professional writer and is already supporting our efforts. I expect to learn a great deal from her. So far, she’s given my writings thumbs up. That makes me feel good.
Not too long ago, I had a person (former friend) tell me she felt bad for me because I was just a poor writer. It kind of shook my confidence. Now being favorably critiqued by a true writer, I’m feeling pretty good.
I’m back!
Life is good today.
