The Colusa County District Attorney’s Office has said goodbye to one of the department’s longest serving employees.
Senior Legal Secretary Brenda Winn, who officially retires on Dec. 31, was recognized by District Attorney Matthew Beauchamp, retired District Attorney John Poyner, retired Deputy District Attorney David Bates, along with current and previous staff, for 26 years of dedicated service to the department and citizens of Colusa County.
The department hosted a barbecue on Oct. 13, which was Winn’s last day in the office.
“Since 1995, Brenda has been basically the face of the DA’s office,” Beauchamp said. “When you came through the door, she was there. She’s been there my entire career here. She was always congenial, polite, and very helpful.”
Winn started working for Colusa County in the early 1990s through a job training program, first becoming a Colusa County Superior Court clerk before transfering to the DA’s Office.
Winn said her serving Colusa County citizens alongside her co-workers has been what she has enjoyed the most about her job.
“I’m going to miss everyone here,” she said. “I love everyone.”
Beauchamp presented Winn with a plaque with her dates of service, with both his and Poyner’s insignia on it.
The plaque reads the recognition is in appreciation of Winn’s unwavering dedication to the people of the County of Colusa, her diligence, loyalty and hard work.
Winn said it was her pleasure to be able to work for two District Attorneys, both of whom did and do their jobs very well.
Winn is married to Robert Winn, a millwright contractor, and has three daughters and several grandchildren.
Winn is originally from Hawaii and said she is looking forward to extended visits to the islands, after her retirement, to spend time with her family. ■
