Ballots have been sent out by the Colusa County Elections Department for voters to decide the fate of Gov. Gavin Newsom.
The special Gubernatorial Recall Election will be held Tuesday, Sept. 14.
” Every voter, just like in November, has been mailed a vote-by-mail ballot,” said Clerk-Recorder Rose Gallo-Vasquez. ” For this election, the election guide was included in the vote-by-mail envelope. Unlike other elections, where (registered voters) received a separate book mailed to them, it is all in one this election.
Colusa County will open its traditional polling places for in-person voting on Election Day from 7 AM to 8 PM. Voters choosing to vote in person should go to their designated polling place on Election Day.
” In-person voters will need to bring in their unvoted mail ballot to exchange it for a polling place ballot,” Gallo-Vasquez said.
Gallo-Vasquez said the only difference between this election and November is in Arbuckle, which has consolidated its polling location to Pierce High School only. Maxwell, Williams, and Colusa polling locations are the same, she said.
Gallo-Vasquez advised voters who plan to vote by mail to return their voted ballots early to ensure they are received on time. Ballots must be postmarked by Sept. 14, although Gallo-Vasquez encourages people to vote sooner so ballots can be tabulated on Election Day. Postage to return ballots by mail are prepaid, she said.
Voters will only have two matters to decide in this election. First, yes or no to recall Gov. Gavin Newsom.
The second question is to vote for a replacement candidate, should a simple majority statewide recall Newsom from office.
To find out if you are registered to vote, find your polling place, check the status of your ballot, or view other election information, Gallo-Vasquez invites the public to visit the Colusa County Elections Department webpage at countyofcolusa.org/Elections or call 1-877- 458-0501.
To register to vote in the Sept. 14 election, visit registertovote.ca.gov or call the election office to have a paper registration form mailed to you.
A 24-hour drop box located at the Colusa County Hall of Records, 546 Jay St., in Colusa, is available to receive ballots now through Election Day.
The Election Department will also offer curbside ballot pickup on Sept. 13-14.
” We will not be going to each town like we did in the last election,” Gallo-Vasquez said. ” That is the only thing that is different from November.
Poll workers are still needed, she said, and are encouraged to call her office. –
