A Colusa woman who has had a hard time staying out of trouble will be put to the test over the next two years.
Shonna Lynn Macias, 43, was sentenced on Monday to 240 days in Colusa County Jail after pleading no contest to the April 6 assault on an elderly individual confined to a wheelchair.
Colusa County Superior Court Judge Jeffrey A. Thompson stayed the jail time, but only if Macias can complete a successful 24 months on probation.
Macias was sentenced following a successful plea deal arranged by her public defender, Albert Smith, which resulted in the Colusa County District Attorneys Office dismissing charges alleging Macias made criminal threats, abused an elder or dependent adult, and committed vandalism of property valued at over $400.
Colusa police officers arrested Macias after they responded to the report of the physical altercation in a residence in the 1100 block of Jay Street.
Martin said when officers arrived they found the victim, who had minor injuries, although Marcia had reportedly fled the scene. The altercation occurred around 1 PM on April 6, with Macias returning to the residence about 30 minute later.
Colusa Police officers previously arrested Macias at the Colusa Motel on Jan. 5 for trespassing and refusing to leave premises, although the District Attorneys office did not press charges.
Macias has also been arrested in Lake County after similar run-ins with law enforcement, records indicate.
Macias on Monday said she understood the terms of her probation and that she accepted the conditions, which includes obeying all laws. –
