My dad, James Bowden, was one of the good guys. More than just my sister and myself remember him fondly. He helped a lot of people in his lifetime. He shared his friendship, his faith, and his love with too many people to number.
So, most days, and especially Fathers Day, I miss my dad.
I miss our talks, the advice he shared, and the encouragement he always gave to me.
As I get older, I find that I often think of days gone by. Our family was one to be appreciated. We didnt have a lot of wealth, but we had a lot of love. It was a huge, extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents.
I think I so enjoy hosting family events because its in my blood. My mother liked nothing more than filling her house with family to celebrate.
This week, we gathered for the baptism of grandson Bodhi Everest Craigo. Bodhi is indeed a gift to this family. I also appreciated that counted among the witnesses were other people from our church that I love.
God has blessed me time and again with family and friends. Some folks are constants in our lives and should always be remembered and appreciated.
As I watched Bodhi be baptized, I recalled that his brothers, his father, and his grandfather had also been baptized at First Lutheran in Beach, ND. Im big on tradition and this was indeed a special one to keep going.
Life is good today. –
