Colusa softball edged final regular season games

Colusa’s Elle Faris doubled to drive in a pair of runs in the RedHawks non-conference game against Woodland Christian on May 10.

It was hard luck last week for the RedHawk softball team as they dropped a pair of one-run games to Woodland Christian and Paradise as the regular season came to an end.
Facing Woodland Christian at home on May 10, Colusa came up short 7-8 in a non-conference game against the Sac-Joaquin Section Cardinals.

With the game tied going into the sixth inning, Woodland Christian capitalized on two RedHawk errors to plate the winning run.

Carly Simmons and Karsyn Gwinnup each finished 2 for 4 with a run scored. Elle Faris drove in a pair of runs with a double, and Brooklyn Bradbury knocked in one with a sacrifice fly.

Colusa followed up the next day with another tough loss, this time at the hands of Sacramento Valley League foe, Paradise, by a score of 2-3.

Avery Lay collected two of the RedHawks’ three hits, while Lexi Avera recorded the other.
No. 8 seeded Colusa (11-13) traveled to Cottonwood on Tuesday to take on No. 1 West Valley (21-4) in the first round of the Northern Section CIF Division IV playoffs. ■
