Colusa softball routs Durham

Colusa’s Brooklyn Bradbury hit a home run in the RedHawks’ win over Durham on Mar. 17

Back in action for the first time in a week, the RedHawks softball team traveled to Durham on Mar. 17 and made a resounding statement in its Sacramento Valley League opener with a 15-0 triumph.

Pitching was paramount in the win as the combination of Avery Lay and Ava Garcia no hit the Trojans in the five inning run-rule shortened contest.

Lay took the first shift going two innings and retiring six straight batters before giving way to Garcia, who mowed down the rest recording six strikeouts in the process.

Garcia additionally had a big day at the plate finishing 3 for 3 with three doubles, while Brooklyn Bradbury went 2 for 3 with a homerun and a double and Abby Maciel smashed a pair of doubles.

Also collecting two hits apiece were Carly Simmons and Karsyn Gwinnup.

Weather permitting, Colusa was in Oroville on Wednesday to play Las Plumas before returning home for a doubleheader against Live Oak today.■
