RedHawk boys continue winning ways

Three more wins last week over Sacramento Valley League opponents Winters, Live Oak, and Paradise not only kept the RedHawks unbeaten in the Sacramento Valley League, but additionally stretched their win streak to 19 straight games.

Colusa started last week off in dominating fashion with a 74-42 win over visiting Winters in which nine players broke into the scoring column.

As has been the case in many of the RedHawks’ wins this season, Landon Humphrey was the team’s top scorer, after tallying 12 points.

Also helping the cause were Peyton Humphrey and Joel Magallon, who each finished with 11 points, along with Brayden Newgard, who dropped in 10.

In Live Oak on Jan. 25, Seth Kalisuch pumped in a season-high 25 points, which included six threes, while Landon Humphrey was not far behind with 21 points in the 67-56 victory over the Lions.

Colusa (19-4, 9-0) rounded out the week with a resounding 81-42 homecoming win over Paradise last Friday night.

Five RedHawks finished in double figures as Magallon led the way with a team-high 16 points and delighted the crowd with a dunk. Isaiah Travis had 15 points, Landon Humphrey added 13 points, while Niko Silvas and Kalisuch finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Working hard underneath, Leo Bedolla cleared 12 boards.

Colusa looked to extend its streak starting on Wednesday when it hosted East Nicolaus before they close out the week in Willows. ■
