Colusa boys keep rolling

Colusa’s Peyton Huphrey had a team-high 13 points in the RedHawks’ 68-45 win over Willows on January 11.

Last week’s three wins made it 14 straight for the RedHawks who are currently ranked second in the Northern Section’s Division IV.

By sweeping Sacramento Valley League foes Winters, Willows, and Live Oak, Colusa now sits atop the standings at 4-0 and improved its overall record to 14-4.

Against visiting Winters on January 9, Landon Humphrey shot 50 percent from the floor and led all scorers with 26 points, while 10 of his RedHawk teammates also broke into the scoring column including Isaiah Travis who had nine points and nine rebounds in the 64-24 triumph.

Next, Colusa, despite finding itself in foul trouble most of the night, notched a 68-45 home win over Willows.

Peyton Humphrey dropped in a team-high 13 points, while Landon Humphrey and Seth Kalisuch had 12 points apiece to lead the balanced attack.

In their third game, the RedHawks put 47 points on the board in the first half and never looked back as they posted a 77-44 road over host Live Oak on January 13.

Travis ended the contest a rebound short of a double-double with 19 points and nine boards, Landon Humphrey added 17 points and Kalisuch contributed 15 points and seven assists.

Colusa entertained Pierce on January 17 then travels to Durham tonight to take on the Trojans, who in spite of their 9-10 overall record, are also unbeaten in SVL play so far this season.
