Williams’s Santillan qualifies for XC state meet

Williams’s Isabella Santillan, shown in a photo from 2021, qualified for the CIF State Cross Country Meet after finishing 10th overall in the varsity girls race at the NSCIF Championships on Nov. 10.

Running against 113 other competitors at the Northern Section CIF Cross Country championships at West Valley High School in Cottonwood last Thursday, Williams’s Isabella Santillan finished 10th overall in the varsity girl’s race, and in doing so, punched her ticket to the CIF state meet.

Santillan, the Mid-Valley League champion, finished the three-mile course in a time of 20:46, and while not her fastest time at the distance this season, it was tops in NSCIF Division V at the NSCIF meet.

The CIF State Cross Country Championships will be held Saturday, Nov. 26, at Woodward Park in Fresno.
